INTERGALACTIC POSTAL WORKS LOGO
CONTRACT GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR TROUBLE BOOK CLUB
DESIGN PROCESS:
ROUND 1
I worked with Trouble Book Club founder Kit Kuksenok to develop a logo design for the Intergalactic Postal Works - the fictional organization in charge of the Lost Mail Redistribution Program. The Lost Mail Redistribution Program is a monthly visual art and narrative puzzle. Each month, subscribers get “lost mail” delivered to their door in the form of space-tourism postcards, beautifully illustrated postage stamps, otherworldly advertisements, perplexing mementos, and other peculiar postal artifacts from the fictional Dweller universe. With this logo the client wanted to communicate space travel, a humorous depiction of bureaucratic ineptitude, futurism, and potentially retrofuturism. He also wanted a “seal”-type logo that could translate to a postal seal if needed.

ROUND 2
The client was drawn to version 1.4. In the next round I move to a digital format and explore variations on 1.4.

ROUND 3
The client was drawn to version 2.2c. At this stage the name of the organization had not yet been finalized, and we decided to change it to “Intergalactic Postal Works” to better fill the space available in this design. I explored slight variations on 2.2c, and the client chose 3.1b.
